ersatz monarch 3d model:

Project Started: August 2008
Project Completed: In Progress
VIEW 3D PROJECT FILES

The 3D Model will be built in a number of phases:

1.) Scan Franz Pitzinger's original plans to Raster format (Completed - Thank you Erwin Sieche) - COMPLETED
2.) Clean up the Raster images to remove any noise issues and straighten them out horizontally.
3.) Redraw Pitzinger's construction plans in AutoCAD 2008. Organize all views and ensure accuracy between all views.
4.) Rotate the 2D AutoCAD drawings into a 3D environment.
5.) Construct the 3D model using the 2D lines from AutoCAD in Rhino 3D.
6.) Convert the nurb model to polygon mesh in Rhino 3D
7.) Transfer the model to Cinema 4D via OBJ format.
8.) Apply textures (UVW mapping), lighting and environment in Cinema 4D.
9.) All renderings will be completed in Cinema 4D using Advanced Renderer.

The following information is from Erwin Sieche (who provided me with these drawing plans):

"Please keep in mind that the yard/or the naval technical comittee prepared only the ship plans. The detailed weapons plans had to be submitted by the manufacturer, e.g. Skoda.

So this is an earlier variant with a superimposed triple turret. In the first stages of design this was chosen to have enough distance between the bigger diameter of the triple turret barbette and the hull. Apparently this was later changed to superimposed twin turret because of the weight factor.

As said before I was not able to find a summer 1914 version of the 35 cm turrets. May be that this was never presented to the naval section."
